So here’s a list of things that are bound to happen. I bet you can relate to each one of them:
- Your rookie estimator will underbid a painting job.
- You’ll honor the aforementioned low bid even though you’ll lose money.
- Your crew will tell you that they can’t text you because the cell service is terrible.
- Someone will refuse to pay you.
- Your painters to have “van trouble” on the way to a new commercial painting customer’s project.
- Your competitor will be at the customer’s home doing a quote at the same time you are.
- You’ll win a project that you thought you had no chance at landing.
- You’ll lose a job you were sure you would book (“…but we had such great rapport?!”)
Once you know that these things are bound to happen, you can spend less energy blaming yourself and more time just fixing the darn problem.
